Relief in Kebbi as bandits release 90 students and faculty members from the Federal Government College.

After 118 days in captivity, gunmen in Northwest Nigeria have released 90 abducted students and staff from the Federal Government College (FGC) in Birnin Yauri, Kebbi State.

DSP Nafi’u Abubakar, the State Police Public Relations Officer, acknowledged the release of the children and teachers to reporters but provided no other details.

A father of one of the abducted kids, who did not want to be identified, also confirmed the students’ release.

“Yes. They were released yesterday but remain in the custody of the authorities. They will be subjected to a medical examination before being released to their parents.”

He stated.

When asked if a ransom was paid before the thieves released the pupils, he answered,

“I’m not going to comment on that.” I hope the authorities can provide a more detailed explanation.”
