Chinwetalu Agu is apprehended by DSS.
Agu is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services, according to Nwonwu (DSS).
“Chiwetalu Agu is still imprisoned.
He is now working for DSS. “Colleagues say they’re looking for a top lawyer to bail him out,” Nwonwu wrote on Friday on his well-known Facebook page.
“Troops of the Nigerian Army (NA) have arrested one Chiwetalu Agu while inciting members of the public and soliciting support for the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra,” said Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations (IPOB).
“Dressed in a very well-known proscribed group’s attire, Chiwetalu Agu was apprehended for questioning while inciting members of the public to join the proscribed group.” Though he attempted to put up some resistance when troops attempted to arrest him, he was not assaulted or brutalized.
“While the NA recognizes the inalienable rights of the citizenry to freedom of movement and expression as enshrined in the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Constitution, it appears to be a violation for any individual or group to incite the public to cause mayhem or the breakdown of law and order.”
It is thus important to emphasize that while exercising such liberties, they must be done within the confines of the law, keeping in mind the imperative for peace and national security.”
